I don't host large group online sessions. It seems too impersonal for me. Personal connection gives me energy. I was happily proven wrong earlier this afternoon. At the request of one of my clients, rather than hosting a book circle with less than 20 people, she asked me to do a large group masterclass. She was expecting between 100 and 200 people. Ugh! I had bad dreams the last 2 nights in anticipation. It was WAY better than I expected! What I realized is that it's not my connection to the participants that matters, but their connection to each other. Just like in a book circle session, I kept my talking to a minimum, and gave space for them to talk to themselves, and to talk to each other. The chat was on fire and as I read the comments, my smile widened and my energy increased. A small group stayed around for another 30 minutes to continue the conversation, which gave me the intimacy that I craved. At the end, the woman who invited me talked about hosting monthly masterclasses with me! Yes, please! Thank you, GN Group and Jabra for having me! Originally posted on LinkedIn with comments.
