As with most families, mine doesn't see eye to eye. My sister-in-law made up a rule to follow in approaching many supposed "facts." DIVIDE BY 2 AND MULTIPLY BY MAYBE. Over the summer, I overheard my brother fact-checking my mother on more than one occasion. You can probably guess how well that went down. One night, I fact-checked him at the dinner table. According to what I found, I was right. Yet, according to Edmans, a fact isn't necessarily data, and data isn't necessarily evidence. If you want to turn your world upside down, and re-think much of what you thought you knew, this book will do so. Every article about a study. Every study about a study. Every study itself, is biased. Which makes me think of the 5th agreement in the Toltec tradition - BE SKEPTICAL, LEARN TO LISTEN. I haven't gotten to the part in the book where there are some supposed answers -- though I guess I should doubt those too.
