When I moved to France 11 years ago, I needed to reset and pivot my business from in-person coaching, to virtual coaching. The pond got a whole lot bigger. In the process of doing so, I took several online business building classes, one of which featured the work of Sally Hogshead. I don't remember much of the class itself all these years later, but I will always remember this quote: "Better isn't better. Different is better." I was reminded of this quote again this week as I dive into designing different book circle sessions for two women's networks that I work with, at 2 different organizations. 💡 What if, as women, we don't have to worry about being BETTER than our male colleagues? 💡 What if instead, we can focus on being DIFFERENT, and truly FASCINATE those we work with? As a business owner, how I position myself matters, and niching down is something that is beat over the heads of entrepreneurs. I have clearly found my niche, and it's been my competitive advantage -- not just what I do, but HOW I do it. When I think about all the corporate women that I work with, I wonder how much of the entrepreneurial teachings could be applied to them. How can these women set themselves apart, not through competing with their colleagues, but by finding out their fascination type and using that to their own competitive advantage? I never read the book 11 years ago when I took the test, and I am just starting it, but am already drawn in by Sally's humor and playfulness. As I read it now, I am not listening for myself, but for all the women that I work. 👉 Are you ever fascinated by people? Are people fascinated by you? Originally posted on LinkedIn with comments.
