I know a woman who never reads a book cover to cover. Instead, she reads where she wants, when she wants, often never finishing a book completely. It's totally NOT my style. The rebellious part of me thinks it's great, but I simply can't do it. Thomas' book, though, lends itself to this exact way of interacting with a book There are even check-mark boxes at the top of the pages, where you can check-off whether you read that page or not. (I don't know if that's what they are for, but that's how I see them.) It's not so much a book, as an invitation. It's comprised of stories, drawings, checklists, diagrams, poems, exercises, and more....all meant to invite you to reflect on your practice and what you think you know and believe. Who are you as a facilitator? How does who you are influence (for good or bad) your facilitation? What can you heal through your facilitation practice? What might you unlearn through your facilitation practice? Etc. This is a book that will break my reading habits, and may break other things as well. Thanks, Thomas Lahnthaler for giving this gift to the world. P.S. I used a new highlighter pen to annotate the pages, and it bled through. Be careful how you interact with the book.
