WHAT I'M READING WEDNESDAY : A Different Kind of Power by Jacinda Ardern

I have no desire to go into politics.

Yet sometimes, when I see how the world is unfolding, I wonder if I should.

I know I would get eaten alive, though.
I am too sensitive.
I hate being in the public eye.
Plus, I am too old. Ardern is younger than I am 🤣

As I listen to Jacinda Ardern's story, though, I see that we are quite a like.

She, too, seems to be a sensitive soul, while also a strong one.

Even from thousands of miles away, I admired her premiership, which seemed to have CARE at it's center.

Too often in my own leadership journeys, I would falter because I would lose my grounding, thinking I needed to lead in a specific way, rather than MY way ; believing that care couldn't compete with whatever other story I had about how leaders lead.

I look forward to hearing the rest of her story, and what she considers to be this different kind of power.

    Hi there!

    I am Theresa Destrebecq.

I am a passionate learner and leader who loves books, so I started a company that brings book-learning to companies to make it more social and transformational.

It's about moving beyond just consuming ideas in isolation, to connecting those ideas to yourself, your colleagues, and your work.
