I would never eat at McDonald's if I could. But when you're driving the length of your country, and you need to stop to charge your car, it's often the quickest and fastest option, so you take it. It happens once or twice a year. My family is anti-sauce. No ketchup. No mayonnaise. No mustard. No special sauces. Yet every time we go, we inevitably get a pile of unwanted sauces. If you know me, I am pretty green, and hate waste. At the end of our latest McDonald's trip, I took all the unwanted sauces in hand and walked up to the counter to give them back. They refused them and told me to put them in the garbage. I refused and told them it was wasteful. 😡 They told me to put them on a table instead. I laid them on the counter and walked away. I know they ended up in the garbage. 😢 As my husband and I talked through my frustration once we were back in the car, I could see their reasoning for not taking them back. Why did they give them to us in the first place? On the self-order system, there is a place to say "NO SAUCE" which we select each time. Yet we still get them anyway. I wonder if this is a communication issue or a policy issue? I imagine THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of pounds/kilos of unwanted sauces are finding their way into our waste systems. And THOUSANDS of dollars/euros are being thrown in the garbage as well. What's your perspective on this? Originally posted on LinkedIn with comments. Read Deeper Not FasterComments are closed.
