It made me reflect a lot on the life of an entrepreneur, how we define "enough," and how we can honor the cycles of our work without falling into a scarcity mindset.Over the weekend, I harvested these lovely orange persimmons from our persimmon tree. I decided to keep the 6-7 that were on the verge of exploding with their ripeness, and put the rest in this basket to give away. I put it outside of our house, for any passerby to take a couple or take them all. In a few hours, they were all gone. One friend sent me a text saying, "Merci," and the rest went to strangers. There are times in my work, where things feel abundant, and I can refer or give away work that doesn't fit, or that I don't have time for. And there are times in my work where things feel more scarce. For me, autumn is that scarce period. It was the same last year too. As some companies wind down for the year, they don't always have the time or headspace for learning opportunities. Others have over-used their learning budgets, and have had to cancel their book circles with me. And still others have decided to hunker down, and freeze their spending, not knowing what lies in their futures. While I was busy delivering all year, my persimmon tree was lying in wait, gathering the energy and fuel it needs to give fruit. Now, we have swapped roles. I am planting seeds, nurturing relationships, and preparing for book circles in 2026, and my persimmon tree is giving to the birds, giving to my family, and even giving to my neighbors. How wonderful to honor the cycles that life gives us, rather than fight them. Originally posted on LinkedIn with comments. Read Deeper Not FasterComments are closed.
