Over the weekend, our family combined with 2 other families for a weekend hiking trip, staying in a remote refuge. It's now become a yearly tradition. What I love about these trips is the complete disconnect from the "real" world and the full integration into another. On our first day, we hiked through the forest in the rain, admiring the views in the spaces where the trees opened up. We traversed a few bridges and basked in the power of water as it fell from above in a cascade. Our final summit led us to this open valley. In the middle of this valley, stood the refuge. I believe that my book circles are not too unlike this refuge and the surrounding areas. Every couple of weeks, a book circle session offers a 90-minute refuge from day-to-day work. The participants can step back, disconnect from their "real" jobs for a short time, and fully integrate into another, alongside their peers and colleagues. They find themselves out of the trees, and in the open valley, where they can see things differently. There is space for themselves, and space for new ideas to emerge. ⭐️ Do you have a place you like to go to gain space? Originally posted on LinkedIn with comments.
