What do you get when you bring a group of strangers together and invite them to role-play some of their diminishing moments from work? A lot of laughs, and a lot of recognition! On Tuesday, I had the delight and pleasure of co-facilitating a session with Fiona Cameron (She/Her), on the book "Multipliers" by Liz Wiseman, As part of our work together, small groups designed a mini role-play of one of the nine "accidental diminishers" personas from the book. While the actors were in the spotlight, there was a "chatterfall" of guesses from the observers.-- "Protector," no "Rescuer" -- "Always on" or "Idea Guy." So many people HATE role-plays, but I find it can be such a wonderful way to be real with a topic, while also keeping it at arms length. We're just acting, right? By the end of our time together, each participant had delved into the various accidental diminisher tendencies, while also homing in on their own, and creating a new habit chain to counteract their tendency. We finished with public declarations, where everyone filled in the blanks: When __________________ (trigger), I will __________________ (new multiplier habit), Instead of ______________________ (accidental diminisher habit.) With new insights, comes new actions. Thank you, Fiona Cameron (She/Her) for co-piloting this exploration with me. Thank you to all the participants as well :) Originally posted on LinkedIn with comments. Read Deeper Not Faster
